Volpaia asked Lumen to develop a brand concept, name and packaging design for a new wine from the coastal “Maremma” region of Tuscany. The vineyard is located on the slopes surrounding the site of an ancient lake, Prelius, drained by the Romans two thousand years ago. The brand symbol represents this “lost” lake in an almost mystical way, and its label is printed using a very innovative technique, giving the effect of embossed glass but without the cost. The unique colour and contemporary but refined style have helped the brand enjoy almost immediate success, particularly in the North American market. The packaging design has won numerous awards including the prestigious RedDot and Golden Label.
