Since 1976, Ron Zacapa has earned its place among the worldās most distinguished rum producers. The distillery is situated on Guatemalaās mineral-rich volcanic soil, nourished by an abundance of rivers. This exceptional terroir provides ideal conditions for cultivating sugar cane and is fundamental to the aromatic depth and complexity that define Zacapa rumsāqualities revered by the most discerning connoisseurs.
We were commissioned to design a series of gift boxes that would embody the origin, quality, and craftsmanship of these premium spirits.
Our research revealed that Zacapa means āon the river of grassā in the Aztec language. This poetic reference resonates deeply with the brandās identity. Zacapa bottles are traditionally adorned with a petateāa handwoven palm-leaf mat with origins dating back to the Mayan era. This powerful symbol of heritage and craftsmanship inspired the recurring woven motif that unifies our designs.

ZACAPA X.O. CENTENARIO
Zacapa X.O. Centenario is a masterful blend of the finest rums, aged for up to 25 years. Our packaging captures the productās exceptional prestige through the use of premium materials and refined finishes. The presentation box is wrapped in textured paper and features a bronze nameplate set into an embossed panel. Inside, the bottle rests within a bespoke lateral-opening structure, lined with gold paper and elevated on an internal platform. The smooth, deliberate motion of the opening creates a gradual revealāevoking the warmth and richness experienced when savoring a dram of this extraordinary rum.
LIMITED EDITION CASE
This special edition case is crafted from finely tooled black resin, secured with a stainless steel closure and deeply embossed with the petate pattern. An engraved bronze plaque on the front echoes the bottleās own design language. The contrast between smooth and textured surfaces reflects the essential interplay of water and volcanic rock that defines Zacapaās terroir. Only 400 units of this limited edition case were produced, underscoring its exclusivity.

For the Etiqueta Negra gift pack, the woven motif is reinterpreted through a sophisticated combination of subtle photography and embossing on premium cotton card stock. Metallic gold embossing and debossing enhance the tactile experience, resulting in a presentation that is both sleek and understatedly luxurious.
VISIBILTY UNIT
In addition to the packaging, we designed a bespoke display unit for use in bars and hotels. The structure presents four bottles in a tiered arrangement, ensuring optimal visibility of each label while forming a ceremonial backdrop for the super-premium crystal X.O. Centenario bottle. The result is a striking point-of-sale presence that reinforces Zacapaās position at the pinnacle of the rum category.
